What would you say to the aspect of being able to work full time and draw social security as well. No doubt there will be many, especially of the generation-x group that will say “There is another one of those self serving baby boomers and his plan to have more”.
It is already an established fact that the retiring baby boomers will put a great strain on the social security system. More people retiring and less people paying in from subsequent generations. NOTE: This is not necessarily because of the sheer number of baby boomers but because the government has borrowed and depleted the funds.
I am not a statistician so it will be hard for me to put actual figures to this plan. I do think that in principle it would work for several different reasons. The primary reason is that many baby boomers (78 million strong) in these economic hard times will wish to continue to work. (more…)
I usually have a story in my life that matches with a given season. This one sort of matches with thanksgiving. Well sorta, it involves a turkey.
If you have read any of my young baby boomer stories, you know that I was raised in the country and as such was around a lot of farm critters. Those critters included horses, hogs, goats, cows, chickens and a few turkeys.
I know well that any one of these can be quite contrary if they want to be. Well, to the story.
The day had been going very well. All the usual things that we liked to do we did. Then, it was time to make a stop at our friend’s house for an ice tea and some cool down time. I kept noticing this big tom turkey that I had never really paid much attention to before. He seemed like he was in rare form. What do I mean by that? (more…)
Did you know that baby boomers are growing older? Yes, that is right and some of us are older than others.
All foolishness aside, age takes its toll on every one, eventually. The body begins to stop producing certain substances that keep us operating smoothly. For instance, Co-enzyme Q10 may start slowing production as early as age twenty. CoQ10 is the cellular energy producer of the entire body.
Another one, particular to this post and baby boomers, is human growth hormone. It is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain and is initially responsible for early growth. It then helps to maintain our tissues and organs as we grow older.
